FirstBank Ghana MD/CEO Victor Yaw Asante Honored at 6th Ghana Accountancy & Finance Awards

FirstBank Ghana’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Victor Yaw Asante, has been honoured with the prestigious Finance Personality Award at the 6th Ghana Accountancy & Finance Awards. The ceremony, held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, celebrated individuals and institutions driving excellence and upholding high standards in Ghana’s financial and accounting sectors.

Organised by KN Unique Communications in collaboration with Strategic Accountancy Africa, the awards ceremony was themed “Celebrating Excellence and Promoting Standards in Industry.” The event, at which 35 individuals and entities received honours highlighted the critical role of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in advancing Ghana’s financial landscape.

Victor Yaw Asante was recognized and rewarded for his exceptional leadership, innovative contributions to the banking sector, and dedication to fostering financial inclusion in Ghana. His visionary leadership has steered FirstBank Ghana towards excellence, positioning the bank as a leader in customer-centric financial solutions and impactful community initiatives.

Speaking on his award, Mr. Asante expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasised his commitment to driving financial progress in Ghana. “This award is a testament to the collective efforts of the FirstBank Ghana team. At FirstBank, we believe in delivering excellence while prioritising the needs of our customers and contributing to national development. I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition and remain committed to advancing our financial sector with integrity and innovation,” he stated.

The award was presented by Edward Ahong-Lartey, Director of Investor Relations at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). Receiving the award on behalf of Mr. Asante were Allen Quaye, Head of Retail Banking, and Enoch Vanderpuye, Country Team Lead for Marketing and Corporate Communications.

In a related achievement, FirstBank Ghana was celebrated at the 8th edition of the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards (SSIA), held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel on November 17, 2024. Themed Climate Action Now: Accelerating Decarbonisation and Building Resilience, the SSIA recognised organisations making significant contributions to sustainable development and social impact.

Mabrouk Adam, Acting Head of Credit Risk Management, and Enoch Vanderpuye, Country Team Lead for Marketing and Corporate Communications, received the awards on behalf of the bank from David Damoah, Director of Safety Campaign Ghana. In all, 55 entities and personalities were presented with awards at this year’s Sustainability and Social Investment Awards.
