FirstBank Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on National Chief Imam, Announces Support for 2024 National Maulid Celebrations

As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement and development, FirstBank Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Accra. The visit was to formally introduce the Bank’s leadership to the esteemed Muslim leader and reaffirm its dedication to supporting initiatives that foster social cohesion, peace, and religious harmony in Ghana.

During the visit, the delegation from FirstBank announced the Bank’s support for the upcoming 2024 National Maulid celebrations, scheduled to take place from Sunday, September 29, to Saturday, October 5, 2024. The Maulid celebrations commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad and include various activities such as a national Maulid walk, a cultural display, a religious procession, and a grand durbar.

The FirstBank delegation was led by Allen Quaye, Head of Retail Banking, and included senior executives of the Bank, Hussein Batoure Abubakar, Head of Financial Control, Jamila Munkaila, Area Manager for Accra West, Iddrisu Mutawakil, Branch Manager of the Atomic Junction Branch, Stephen Amponsah, Digital Marketing Officer at Marketing and Corporate Communications and Enoch Vanderpuye, Country Team Lead for Marketing and Corporate Communications.

In his remarks, Allen Quaye expressed the Bank’s appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the National Chief Imam and highlighted FirstBank’s commitment to fostering relationships with diverse communities across Ghana. He emphasised the Bank’s enthusiasm for contributing to the success of the National Maulid celebrations, acknowledging the important role such events play in promoting unity and cultural heritage.

“We are honoured to have this opportunity to meet with the National Chief Imam and express our support for the upcoming National Maulid celebrations,” said Allen Quaye. “FirstBank is dedicated to being a partner in the development of our communities, and we believe that supporting such events fosters harmony and celebrates the rich cultural diversity that defines us as Ghanaians. We are proud to contribute to an event that brings people together in peace and unity.”

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude to FirstBank for their support. He praised the Bank’s efforts to engage with the Muslim community and commended their active role in promoting national unity through meaningful contributions to religious and cultural events.

FirstBank Ghana is part of the First Bank Group of Nigeria Limited, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. The group operates across several countries, including the UK, DRC, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Senegal.
