NCA, Mobile Network Operators to Ensure Uninterrupted Telecom Services During Elections

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced its readiness to collaborate with mobile network operators (MNOs) to ensure the continuous flow of telecommunication services during and after Ghana’s elections.

The NCA, says it has set up a dedicated situation room at its monitoring center to handle media and communication-related complaints, with the aim of ensuring uninterrupted service.

The initiative comes ahead of the general elections on Saturday, with preparations already underway.

Speaking to the press, Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Technical Operations at the NCA, emphasized the critical role telecommunications play in the election process.

“We have set up a situation room for obvious reasons because telecommunications play a very critical role in communication and information dissemination during the electioneering period,” he said.

“We are starting the process tomorrow through to Sunday, and we will be working in collaboration with our stakeholders and the MNOs. If we receive any public complaints, we will relay them to the MNOs for necessary action. Similarly, if there are any issues reported by the MNOs, we will take the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted communication services throughout the period,” he added.
