Former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah Elected Deputy Chairperson of FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber

Former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah has been elected Deputy Chairperson of the FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber for a four-year term. This appointment was announced at the 75th FIFA Congress in Asunción, Paraguay on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

As Deputy Chairperson, Justice Anin-Yeboah will play a key role in investigating and deciding cases related to ethics violations in football. The Adjudicatory Chamber is responsible for:

  • Reviewing reports from the Investigatory Chamber
  • Deciding whether to proceed with or close a case
  • Imposing sanctions based on FIFA’s codes and statutes

Justice Anin-Yeboah brings valuable experience to this role, having served as the 14th Chief Justice of Ghana and previously working with FIFA and the Ghana Football Association. His contributions to football governance will likely have a positive impact on the sport.

The FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber consists of the following members:

María Claudia Rojas – Colombia – Chairperson

Fiti Sunia – American Samoa – Deputy Chairperson

Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah’s Contribution to the Development of World Football

Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah’s professional contribution to the growth of football both locally and on the world stage cannot be underestimated.

With his expert knowledge and dedication to duty, it came as no surprise to the local football fraternity when the world’s football governing body; FIFA first appointed Justice Anin Yeboah as a member of its Ethics Committee.

His subsequent appointment as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, at the highest football decision-making table; FIFA Congress, was welcoming news. The down-to-earth Ghanaian Judge, made history at the 67th FIFA Congress in Bahrain in 2017 with this appointment, a revered position he resigned from, following his elevation to the position of Chief Justice, to head the Judiciary and the Judicial Service of Ghana.

Justice Anin Yeboah also brought his legal experience to bear at the local level when he served as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA). At the national level, he served on both the Disciplinary and Appeals Committees of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In 2019, he was named in the CAF/FIFA Reform Implementation Taskforce team for African football. He was appointed along with other nationals to carry out reforms within African football, at a time the continental football governing body was under pressure, following allegations of corruption and financial malfeasance that hit CAF, right before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2019. He later served on the FIFA Ethics Committee and also Chaired the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA.

Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah replaced Justice Sophia Akuffo as Ghana’s 14th Chief Justice in December 2019 and left office in May 2023.
