AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: “Come play for Ghana” – Agyemang Badu charges foreign-based players

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has sent a strong message to Ghanaian players born abroad and willing to switch nationality to play for the Black Stars to show their commitment and willingness by accepting to play in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which commences in June 2022.

Following Ghana’s qualification to the 2022 Qatar World, several players who turned down the opportunity of donning the Black Stars jersey to play for the national team are now said to be considering making the switch.

According to the midfielder, although he has no issue with that, any player that decides to make the switch should be ready to play in the AFCON qualifiers as well and not just at the world cup.

“Those who wouldn’t have any problem switching nationality must be ready for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers so they get familiar with the terrain, It shouldn’t be that the player plays the world cup and that’s it,” Agyemang Badu told 3 Sports.

The likes of Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi are two players that could successfully switch allegiance from England to play for Ghana before the close of this year with the former admitting in an interview days ago.
