Franklin Cudjoe Writes – Responds to Miracles Aboagye on Rallying Behind Mahama
Below is a write-up response by the Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, to a social media post by the Director of Communications for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
“It is important that we avoid fake news in this election and also demand accountability from our politicians.
For instance, the NDC has not stated anywhere in their manifesto that they will cancel free SHS, LEAP, and NHIS. Anyone advertising this is a Bold Liar!
I have not said anywhere that Ghana was lucky to have Nana Addo as president. Certainly, l have not given any 20 reasons why Nana Addo was the best to happen to Ghana.
This is a bold fake statement attributed to me. Even if l was on some high-grade substance, l would never make such a hapless statement after the president and his “solid” economic management team junketed our economy, drove us into a mighty debt iceberg, literally pickpocketed innocent and defenseless senior citizens, gave the rest of us ugly financial haircuts and finally supervised the worst ecological homicide through illegal mining. Ignore it. It is FAKE!!
Meanwhile, many Ghanaians need answers to this question.
How will you describe the two scenarios below?
2016. $1=4 cedis
1 bag of cement = 24 cedis
Ghana at IMF, but the government did no ‘pickpocketing’ of savings of Ghanaians and pensioners through the debt exchange programme.
Debt as of 2016= 120bn cedis
2024 Bawumia and Nana Addo
$1= 17 cedis.
1 bag of cement. 105 cedis.
Ghana at IMF got there in stitches, plus over 40 painfully higher taxes, wicked financial haircuts –
government literally pickpocketed the savings of Ghanaians and pensioners through the debt exchange programme. (Atutuobutom paaa )
Debt as of 2024 – a staggering 763bn cedis.
According to the World Bank, poverty rates are projected to rise until 2026, peaking at 31.5% in 2025 before slightly declining to 30.6%, with rates at the LMIC line potentially reaching 55.1% by 2026 due to limited growth in services and agriculture and rising prices outpacing income growth for the poorest.- why?
The greatest sin of all, is precociously disenfranchising defenseless citizens like SALL using judicial and legal plunder. Why? No apology? No redemption?
Dr. Bawumia has just extended an invitation to CSO leaders, including myself, to hear and discuss his vision for Ghana and why he is the best man to lead Ghana in 2025.
Sadly, I wouldn’t be available to be part of the encounter as I will be away in the US.
I would have directly asked him what went wrong economically and why he wasn’t he confronting the very issues as loud as he did between 2014 and 2016.
Below is the X (Twitter) post by Dennis Miracles Aboagye asserting that Mr Cudjoe is making propaganda comments in support of the NDC and former President Mahama.
“It looks like our Imani guys have realised the agenda isn’t agending, so they must get into the ring themselves. This is because of late the NDC comms job Franklin Cudjoe has been doing for the NDC no be small!”
“Franklin, Ghanaians do not need you to tell them what the incompetent former President will do if they make the mistake of bringing him back. John Mahama has been President before. He came, we saw and remember what he did, what he undid, and what he could not do and would not do,” the post by Miracles Aboagye read.
“As Vice-President and President, he inherited an NHIS with a membership of 12.5 million Ghanaians, by the time he was leaving office, the services and numbers were in a constant decline and membership had reduced to 11.03 million, due to incompetence, lack of care, and confidence, and the total inefficiencies of the managers of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
“Today, membership has increased from 11.03 million to 17.5 million. For the entire period, John Mahama was in office, he did not add one single illness to be covered by the NHIS. Not one! Instead, Cash & Carry was brought effectively back.
“John Mahama left Ghanaians with a turnaround time of a whole 3 weeks for renewals of NHIS. Which means within that period if you were to fall ill, you would have no cover! And, 1,000s of Ghanaians suffered it. This is after NDC failed woefully to implement their main promise for 2008: One Time Health Insurance Premium payment.
“I’m sure you have heard your beloved Mahama talk about another health scheme he is threatening to impose if elected, which is different from the NHIS, right? So, if anyone warns that he will cancel NHIS, knowing how he effectively collapsed NHIS, and he is now busily threatening to introduce a new competitive scheme, that person speaks nothing but the truth. It is you, Prophet Cudjoe, who is rather speculating against the evidence. You are rather the liar!
“John Mahama as President could neither increase the amount paid for LEAP beneficiaries nor increase the number of households covered” and that “he left LEAP beneficiaries in hunger and limbo for 3 solid years and 2 quarters without their benefits. Today, he (John Mahama) says he is the one who cares for the poor and that is not a lie! John Mahama, per his record, is an enemy of the poor. A foe to the masses.
“So, you see, Franklin, No Ghanaian is waiting for you or Imani Ghana to tell us what Mahama will do and will not do. We know, as a matter of fact, what Mahama did and did not do when he was President, what he said, what he has done, and what he will do as President. And, frankly, Franklin, the masses are scared. Women are scared. Young voters are afraid of their future.
“These things we know for a fact, based on his own words and deeds as president and as a candidate. What John Mahama would not do by 2016 when he had another four years to account to Ghanaians, surely, my brother, we cannot expect him to do if elected in 2024 when he will not be accountable to the voters after 2028,” Miracles Aboagye’s post read.
Typical NPP lying spree, whilst hoping that Ghanaians are too stupid to check his cooked up figures. This is a dangerous individual who should not be anywhere near decision making in this country. It’s a thin line between lying and propaganda, which thin line Miracles Aboagye and his boss Barwumia have no problem crossing, because they have zero respect for Ghanaians.
