From Silver to Red: Hamilton Embraces His New Journey as a Ferrari Driver
Lewis Hamilton has taken a significant step in his illustrious racing career, sharing his excitement on social media after visiting Ferrari’s iconic headquarters in Maranello for the first time.
The seven-time World Champion is gearing up for his inaugural season with the legendary Scuderia, where he will replace Carlos Sainz as the teammate to Charles Leclerc.
Reflecting on the momentous occasion, Hamilton kicked off the year with a heartfelt message on LinkedIn, emphasizing the importance of “embracing new opportunities” and the power of “reinvention.” However, it was his latest social media update that truly captured the spirit of the day. Posing in a sharp all-black suit alongside a classic Ferrari F40, Hamilton wrote, “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days.”
He expressed his long-held dream of racing in the iconic red, stating, “I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realize that dream today.”
Hamilton’s enthusiasm was palpable as he looked forward to what he described as a new era in the history of Ferrari, eager to contribute to the team’s legacy.
Hamilton’s first day included a tour of the Scuderia’s headquarters and a visit to the Fiorano track, where he was welcomed by Team Principal Fred Vasseur and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna. The day also featured a poignant visit to the Fiorano house and the pit garage, where Hamilton had a chance to view the office of the late Enzo Ferrari, the team’s founder.
Following his initial introductions, Hamilton continued his “immersion program,” meeting with team management and Piero Ferrari, the Vice Chairman and son of the legendary Enzo. This comprehensive orientation is designed to help him familiarize himself with the various departments and the dedicated team behind Ferrari’s storied success.
The team confirmed that Hamilton’s work would continue with a series of technical meetings and briefings in the days ahead.
Concluding his message, Hamilton expressed gratitude to key figures within Ferrari, saying, “I’m incredibly grateful to John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna, Fred Vasseur, and everyone at Ferrari for their trust in me and making me part of this family. I’m so excited to start this new era and to meet and work with a hugely talented and inspiring group of people. I’m dedicated to bringing everything I have to deliver for the team, the wider organization, and the fans.”
