Most Ghanaians trust John Mahama to better manage the economy, Free SHS – Survey

In the run up to the 2024 general elections, eligible voters have shared their views on who they believe can better manage the economy vis-a-vis the present economic challenges facing the country.

In a recent survey conducted by Ghanaian research firm, Global InfoAnalytics, erstwhile president and 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Mahama, was named as the best person to effectively manage the economy.

Former President John Mahama was selected among other presidential candidate aspirants such as Dr Mahammudu Bawumia, Alan Kyeremanteng and Dr Kwabena Duffior.

Per the survey, 55% of the Ghanaian populace believe Mr Mahama will better manage the economy as against his contenders.

For Dr Kwabena Duffuor, Alan Kyeremanteng and Dr Bawumia, a meagre 2.40%, 12.56% and 16.83% of the Ghanaian populace believe they can better manage the economy.

Regarding the now-troubled Free SHS, some 51.70% of the population believe Mr Mahama can better manage the social policy programme along with all other challenges in the education sector.

For Dr Bawumia, Dr Duffuor and Alan Kyeremanteng, some 21.42%, 1.81% and 13.34% of the Ghanaian population believe they can better handle the Free SHS policy and other challenges in the education sector.

Regarding job creation, a similar proportion of the Ghanaian populace (50.88%) believe Mr Mahama can create better job opportunities as compared to Dr Bawumia or Alan Kyeremanteng who 19.60% and 15.23% of the populace believe can create better job opportunities.
