Gainers and losers on the Accra bourse for last week 

Four (4) equities at the end of trading session on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) last week – May 20, 2022 – recorded gains in their share prices.

The pack of four gainers was led by New Gold ETF (GLD) – an exchange traded fund sponsored by Absa Capital – with a share price appreciation of 1.10 percent with a positive year-to-date change of 32.23 percent.

At the closing bell last week, GLD’s share price had appreciated to GHS 143.60 pesewas.

Following GLD was CAL with a share price appreciation of 0.04 percent and a positive year-to-date change of 4.60 percent.

SIC ended last week’s trading session with a share price of GHS 0.28 pesewas and a positive year-to-date change of 250 percent.

The remaining equity that recorded gains on the bourse was TOTAL.

The equity recorded 0.01 percent gain in share price ending last week’s trading session with a share price of GHS 4.06 pesewas.

Regarding decliners on the local bourse, Societe-Generale Ghana [SOGEGH] emerged the bourse’s only decliner with -0.02% loss in share price during last week.

SOGEGH begun and ended the week with opening and closing stock prices of GHS 1.19 and GHS 1.19 respectively.

Market activity for the week increased marginally by 2.37 points to  close at 2,564.20 translating into a YTD return of -8.07%.

The GSE  Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also increased by 4.11 points to close  the week at 2,210.43 translating into a YTD return of 2.72%.

The GSE’s market capitalization increased by GH¢31.98 million to close the trading week at GH¢62.54 billion. 

A total of 1.67 million shares valued at GH¢3.92 million traded during the week compared to 631.25 million shares valued at GH¢580.52 million which traded the previous week.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded lion’s share of trades as it recorded the most volumes traded whilst New Gold (GLD) accounted for 60.42% of the total value  traded.
