GCB, Total record losses in share price

GCB and Total recorded loses in their share price at the close of trading on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

GCB at the close of trading lost GHS 0.01 to end the day at GHS 5.13 pesewas representing a year-to-date loss of 2.29%.

Total, which emerged the second decliner on the local bourse also lost GHS 0.01 to close the day with a share price of GHS 4.99 representing a year-to-date loss of 0.6%.

CAL Bank and Ecobank Transnational Incorporation (ETI) on the other hand, emerged the two gainers on the exchange at the close of trading on Wednesday.

Both CAL Bank and ETI gained GHS 0.01 in share price ending trading activity with equity prices of GHS 0.88 and GHS 0.20 with year-to-date returns of 1.15% and 42.86% respectively.

On the back of the gains and losses recorded by the four equities, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) gained 8.02 points on  the day to close at 2,694.17 representing a YTD return of -3.41%.

The GSE  Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also increased its value as it gained14.76  points to close trading at 2,215.12 translating into a YTD return of 2.94%.  In the aggregate, twelve (12) equities participated in trading.

Market capitalization of the GSE after close of trading on Wednesday was GH¢ 64.02 billion. 

In all, a total of 320,441 shares valued at GH¢298,354.4 were traded  compared to 2,167,075 shares valued at GH¢2,179,915.7 which changed  hands yesterday, 5th April, 2022.

Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI)  recorded the largest volume of trades on the day and Total Petroleum  Ghana PLC. (TOTAL) accounted for 34.59% of the total value traded.
