German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Undertake Three-Day State Visit to Ghana
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is expected to arrive in Ghana on Sunday, November 2, 2025, for a three-day state visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany.
A statement issued by Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, said the official programme begins on Monday, November 3, with an inspection of a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of the Presidency.
President Steinmeier will thereafter hold a closed-door meeting with President John Dramani Mahama, followed by bilateral discussions between their respective delegations in the Credentials Room. The talks, the statement indicated, will focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and development.
A State Luncheon will be held in honour of President Steinmeier and his delegation at the Presidential Banquet Hall. Later in the day, he will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
President Steinmeier is also expected to engage young Ghanaian IT specialists before attending a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence.
On the final day of the visit, the German President will travel to Kumasi, where he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute. He will also interact with management and staff of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research.
Before departing Ghana on Tuesday evening, November 4, President Steinmeier will pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
