Germany reaffirms support for Ghana’s economic recovery

German Ambassador to Ghana, Daniel Krull, has reiterated Germany’s unwavering support in expediting Ghana’s economic recovery. Ambassador Krull emphasized that the acquisition of Ghana’s $3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout package would play a pivotal role in establishing a sustainable debt level for the country.

Speaking at the prestigious GIZ WIDU Entrepreneurs Award ceremony, Ambassador Daniel Krull underscored Germany’s position as the second-largest bilateral creditor to Ghana and expressed the country’s readiness to fulfill its responsibility in assisting Ghana in attaining a sustainable debt service level. Importantly, Ambassador Krull stressed the importance of collaborative efforts involving all creditors to provide comprehensive support for Ghana’s economic revival.

Regina Barbosa, the Country Director of GIZ Ghana, commended the achievements of the WIDU project’s beneficiaries, highlighting the creation and safeguarding of approximately 2,100 job opportunities thus far. The GIZ WIDU project stands as a catalyst for Ghanaian diasporas, offering them a unique avenue to contribute to the expansion of entrepreneurial ventures, consequently driving increased employment prospects.

With a focus on various sectors such as agribusiness, technology, and sustainability, fifteen exceptional entrepreneurs were honored and awarded cash prizes ranging between ¢5,000 and ¢15,000 respectively. These financial rewards serve as a vital injection to bolster their businesses, enabling them to further amplify their impact on the Ghanaian economy.

Remarkably, the GIZ WIDU project has already extended its reach to benefit a staggering 950 enterprises across Ghana. By providing invaluable financial support, tailored business coaching, and unparalleled networking opportunities, the initiative has proven instrumental in cultivating an environment conducive to entrepreneurial success.

As Ghana’s economic landscape continues to evolve, the resolute support from Germany signifies a powerful alliance, one that is primed to expedite the nation’s path to financial stability. With an emphasis on debt sustainability and entrepreneurial growth, the collaborative efforts between Ghana and Germany are poised to deliver meaningful outcomes, fostering an environment of prosperity and progress.
