President Mahama Arrives in Beijing for Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, Seeks to Strengthen Ghana-China Investment Ties
President John Dramani Mahama, accompanied by First Lady Lordina Mahama, has arrived in Beijing to participate in a Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, scheduled for October 13–14. The event, hosted by President Xi Jinping and UN Women, will convene world leaders to reaffirm commitments under the 1995 Beijing Declaration and accelerate its implementation.
This year’s gathering coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, also held in Beijing.
While championing women’s empowerment, President Mahama will use the visit to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic and economic ties with China. Key engagements include bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council, His Excellency Li Qiang.
The President will also meet Chinese business leaders and host a Presidential Investment Forum. The forum aims to connect Ghanaian enterprises with Chinese investors, opening avenues for investment and collaboration across sectors in Ghana.
