GFA and BetPawa Enhance partnership; Locker Room Bonus Extended to Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for 2025/26 Season
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an exciting enhancement to its partnership with betPawa, extending the popular Locker Room Bonus initiative to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The Locker Room Bonus, which rewards players for match victories, has been a signature feature of the betPawa Ghana Premier League. This initiative provides a financial boost directly to players, incentivizing outstanding performances on the pitch.
The announcement was made during a ceremony attended by key officials from the GFA, betPawa, club representatives, stakeholders, and media personnel. GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo hailed the move as a landmark development for women’s football in Ghana. “This is a clear statement that women’s football is a priority, and we are committed to investing in its growth,” he emphasized.
Borah Ndanyungu, betPawa’s head of local marketing and corporate social responsibility, expressed excitement about broadening the initiative’s scope. “We are passionate about driving excitement and professionalism across Ghana’s football ecosystem,” he stated.
Under the new arrangement, players who are part of the matchday squad for both the Men’s and Women’s Premier League teams that win their matches will receive a bonus of GH₵ 400. Beauty Abena Julius, captain of the Women’s FA Cup Champions Faith Ladies, voiced her appreciation on behalf of the league’s players, commending the GFA and betPawa for their commitment to women’s football.
betPawa is expected to invest approximately $380,843 (about four million Ghana Cedis) across both leagues in the upcoming season. The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League is set to kick off in October, and the Locker Room Bonus will be in effect from Matchday One.
