GFA and Premier League Clubs Unite to Enhance the Future of Ghana Football
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) convened an important meeting with executives from all 18 Premier League clubs on Wednesday to reflect on the recently concluded 2024/25 season and strategize for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
Led by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, the meeting served as a collaborative platform for stakeholders to analyze the league’s performance, tackle existing challenges, and propose innovative strategies to enhance the competitiveness and commercial appeal of the Premier League.
Key topics of discussion included league regulations, marketing strategies, television rights, officiating standards, and matchday protocols. The GFA also reviewed operational aspects from the past season, including club licensing, regulatory compliance, and the Competitions Management System (CMS).
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku expressed gratitude to the clubs for their contributions to a competitive season, particularly highlighting the thrilling conclusion of the league. “Thank you all for participating in this important meeting. We are here to reflect on what we achieved collectively last season and what we can do better moving forward,” he stated.
He congratulated Bibiani Gold Stars for their remarkable achievement in clinching the Premier League title during a fiercely contested season. At the same time, he offered encouragement to relegated clubs, urging them to regroup and strive for a swift return to the top flight.
Simeon-Okraku emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the game and encouraged clubs to voice concerns through appropriate channels to safeguard the credibility of the Ghana Premier League. He also stressed the need for strict adherence to enhanced matchday protocols and unveiled updated regulations aimed at promoting professionalism and governance.
In an effort to increase fan engagement, the President introduced a revamped television model designed to deliver greater value and entertainment. Additionally, he announced the rollout of the “Power to the Youth” policy, an initiative focused on developing young talent across the country.
The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on September 12, 2025. Prior to the start of the season, the GFA will host its annual Congress on August 12, 2025, where key decisions will be ratified, and final preparations will be made for the new season.
