GFA President announces GHC 500,000 as cash prize for 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League champions 

The president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku has announced an increase in the prize money for the Champion of the Ghana Premier League in the upcoming 2023/24 league season.

He made this announcement at the launch of the new season held at the Eastern Premier Hotel in Koforidua, Eastern Region.

Medeama Sporting Club are the reigning Champions and were awarded GHC.300,000 last season for emerging Champions of the competition.

With this latest announcement by Kurt Okraku, the winner of the 2023/24 league season will receive GHC.500,000 as the prize money for topping the table, together with a trophy and 40 medals.

The second-placed team will be awarded GHC. 200,000, and the third-placed team will receive GHC. 100,000.

Kurt Okraku further added this season’s campaign will have clubs finishing from 4th to 10th awarded some cash at the end of the campaign.

According to him, this is to increase the competitiveness of the league in the upcoming campaign.

Accra Hearts of Oak who were Champions of the Ghana Premier League received a cash prize of GHC 250,000 in the 2020/21 league season.

In the subsequent season, 2021/22 Kumasi Asante Kotoko were awarded the same amount of prize money, that arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak received.

A slight increase was seen last season when Medeama SC emerged as Champions of the competition and was awarded GHC.300,000 for its efforts.
