In a significant move for the future of Ghanaian football, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku led the revamped Black Stars technical team in a working visit to the Minister of Youth and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, on March 3, 2025. This meeting aimed to reinforce collaboration and support as the team prepares for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
During the visit, President Simeon-Okraku introduced the members of the technical team, including Head Coach Otto Addo, Assistant Coach Desmond Ofei, and GFA Director of Football and Black Stars Technical Advisor Winfried Schafer. The discussions focused on the upcoming qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, emphasizing the need for government support to ensure a successful campaign.
The President expressed his confidence in the technical team’s ability to deliver results for the Ghanaian people. “We must work together to strengthen our relationship with the government to enhance the development of football in the country,” he stated.
The Black Stars are set to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 17, before traveling to Morocco for their match against Madagascar. These qualifiers are crucial for Ghana as they aim to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
