GFA President Okraku Urges Public to Assist in Finding Nana Pooley’s Killer
Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has appealed to the public for information regarding the tragic death of Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong, known as Nana Pooley. Okraku made this call during a meeting with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko on February 20, 2025, in Kumasi.
Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed during a Ghana Premier League match between Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC, sparking outrage and grief within the football community. Following the incident, a one-week funeral observation was held in his honor.
“We are ready to chase the killer,” Okraku stated emphatically. “Anyone who was with the killer when Nana Pooley was stabbed must be honest and come forward. If that person values life and football, they must speak out and reveal the killer’s whereabouts.”
During the meeting, Okraku also briefed the IMC on the security measures the GFA is implementing to enhance safety at match venues. He emphasized that the GFA stands in solidarity with Asante Kotoko and the broader football community during this difficult time.
“The GFA is committed to ensuring that justice is served not only for football but also for the Asante Kotoko family and in memory of Nana Pooley,” he added.
This meeting is part of the GFA’s ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders and address the pressing challenges facing the league, particularly in light of recent tragic events
