GFA to Evaluate Otto Addo’s Performance Following AFCON 2025 Qualifiers Failure
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is scheduled to meet with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo on November 27, 2024, to discuss his technical report regarding Ghana’s disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.
This meeting will also assess the overall performance of the coaching staff since Addo’s reappointment earlier this year.
Addo, who began his second term as coach in March 2024, has come under intense scrutiny after Ghana failed to qualify for AFCON for the first time in two decades. Under his leadership, the team secured only two wins out of ten matches.
Despite this setback, Ghana remains joint-top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, thanks to key victories over Mali and the Central African Republic, indicating a potential recovery.
The Black Stars concluded their AFCON qualifying round without a single win, finishing last in Group F, triggering widespread public outrage and calls for Addo’s resignation. In response to the AFCON failure, the GFA has dissolved the Black Stars Management Committee and is restructuring its approach.
The upcoming evaluation meeting is crucial as Ghana prepares for its next World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
