GFA Urges Clubs to Nominate Directors for New Autonomous Premier League Board
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a reminder to Premier League clubs to submit nominations for a director to represent them on the newly established Autonomous Premier League Board. This initiative marks a significant step toward greater independence for the league, which has been officially registered as a company under Ghanaian law.
The Implementation Committee, chaired by His Majesty Togbe Afede XIV, has emphasized the importance of each club nominating a representative for the Autonomous Premier League Limited. This transition signifies the GFA’s commitment to handing over the operational responsibilities of the league to the clubs, with the current committee set to be replaced by directors from the 18 participating clubs.
In preparation for the league’s operations, the GFA has also opened official bank accounts to facilitate financial management. This development underscores the association’s commitment to fostering autonomy while ensuring a smooth operational transition.
GFA President Kurt Okraku has endorsed the initiative, which aims to empower clubs in decision-making processes while maintaining the association’s support during the transition. Although some clubs have requested that the GFA continue managing the league, the long-term goal remains a fully autonomous structure.
