GHALCA G6 Tournament: Accra Great Olympics crowned champions for the first time

Accra Great Olympics have crowned the 2022 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) G6 tournament after defeating Bechem United in the final at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Two goals in each half ensured the ‘Oly Dade’ lads recorded a 2-0 win over Bechem United to lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

Great Olympics dominance in the early minutes of the fixture paid off after the half-hour mark with an opener through Abdul Razak Yussif who connected to a header from a corner-kick by Adrian Ajetey on the 34th minute of the game.

Bechem United failed to make an attempt of levelling the score before the break as it ended in a 1-0 win for Great Olympics in the first half of the game.

Back from recess, Great Olympics doubled their lead via a controversial penalty which meant Bechem United had to play the remaining minutes of the game with a man down.

Skipper Kofi Agbesima was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for handling the ball in his box.

Adrian Ajetey exercised nerves of steel to convert the spot-kick which provided some cushion for Great Olympics.

Great Olympics continued their impressive performance by scoring two more goals but were flagged offside by the match officials.

The final ten minutes of the game looked balanced with Bechem United trying their luck of registering a goal but all their efforts yielded no results.

Berekum Chelsea also defeated Medeama SC 4-1 on penalty shootouts to finish third place after the entire duration of the 3rd place game had ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
