Ghana Enterprises Agency disburses GHS 700 Million to Support MSMEs

The Ghana Enterprises Agency has announced the disbursal of a staggering GH₵700 million to bolster micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) across the nation. The revelation, made by the Chief Executive, Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial ventures amidst the challenging backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Ms Yankey-Ayeh elucidated the profound impact of these disbursements, emphasizing their pivotal role in sustaining businesses during the tumultuous Covid-19 era and beyond. With an air of resolute determination, she articulated a vision of relentless progress, asserting that complacency has no place in the quest for the country’s full economic recovery.

“In life, you should never be satisfied with what you get. So I would want more, and I think people should want more. The question therefore should not be ‘Is it enough?’ The question should be ‘How can we do more for people?'” she fervently remarked.

Speaking further, she stated that no government or agency in Ghana’s history has disbursed such monumental funds to MSMEs underscoring the magnitude of the agency’s unprecedented efforts.

“In this nation’s history, no government or agency has disbursed so much funds to the micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises in the way we’ve done. It’s unprecedented, never happened before,” she posited.

Yet, amidst the celebration of milestones, Ms Yankey-Ayeh champions a nuanced perspective, urging a recalibration of focus. “The question should not be ‘Is it too small?’ Because it is not about that; it is about even making the effort,” she said.

The funds disbursed aim to provide financial assistance, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute to the overall development of small businesses in the country.

As the agency continues to make strides in supporting the business community, the focus remains on exploring additional avenues to enhance the impact on entrepreneurs and further boost the economic landscape of Ghana.
