Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill Nears Finalization as Ministry Engages Stakeholders
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has intensified efforts to finalize the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill, engaging key stakeholders in a high-level review meeting.
Led by Minister Samuel Nartey George, the Ministry met with consultants from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Vice President of Heritors Labs, Kofi Ocloo, to assess the bill’s framework before its submission to Parliament. The Ministry has set May 2025 as the target for activating the review process, ensuring the bill reaches Parliament before recess.
The proposed legislation is a strategic initiative aimed at fostering innovation and providing structured support for startups across the country. During the meeting, Mr. Ocloo presented detailed evidence reports analyzing Ghana’s innovation landscape. These reports will serve as a key reference for refining the bill to address industry needs effectively.
To ensure broad-based input, the Ministry has outlined a three-step review process involving consultations at committee, zonal, and national levels before the bill is laid before Parliament.
According to Minister Sam George, this legislative effort is expected to position Ghana as a regional hub for innovation and startup growth, driving economic transformation through entrepreneurship and technological advancements.
