Ghana Premier League: Hearts of Oak End Winless Streak; Kotoko Extend Lead At The Top

In an exciting round of matches in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, April 6, 2025, Hearts of Oak secured a vital 1-0 victory over Medeama SC, while Asante Kotoko extended their lead at the top of the table with a 1-1 draw against Heart of Lions.

Hearts of Oak, looking to bounce back from a four-game winless run, found the breakthrough through a stunning 40-yard strike from Raphael Amponsah. The goal not only clinched the win for the Phobians but also marked a significant turnaround in their season, lifting them to third place with 40 points. They now trail leaders Asante Kotoko by six points.

Medeama, on the other hand, slipped to seventh in the standings following this defeat. They will be eager to return to winning ways in their upcoming match against Dreams FC next weekend.

Asante Kotoko maintained their grip on the Premier League summit, opening up a two-point lead after their draw against Heart of Lions. Justice Blay put the Porcupine Warriors ahead, but Ali Fawaz equalized for the home side, ensuring both teams shared the spoils. Kotoko now sits comfortably at the top with 46 points from 25 matches.

In other matches, Young Apostles were held to a goalless draw by struggling Legon Cities, while Aduana FC returned to form with a 1-0 victory over Vision FC, thanks to a goal from Rich Sackey. Dreams FC continued their resurgence with a convincing 2-0 win over Gold Stars FC, and Basake Holy Stars ended their three-game winless streak with a 2-1 triumph against Berekum Chelsea.

FC Samartex 1996 deepened the woes of Accra Lions with a 2-0 victory, leaving the Lions at the bottom of the league table.
