Ghana Premier League Match Week 3 Wrap: Kotoko, King Faisal continue fine form

Ghana Premier League champions, Accra Hearts of Oak are winless after three-game weeks following a match held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 14, 2021 while Kumasi Asante Kotoko and King Faisal continue an incredible start to the season.

10-man Accra Hearts of Oak had to settle for a draw when Bright Adjei equalized from the spot after Kofi Kordzi had brilliantly put the Phobia lads ahead before halftime after a sumptuous pass from Salifu Ibrahim.

It is the 3rd successive game in which Samuel Boadu’s men have failed to win.

King Faisal saw off Ashgold SC at the Baba Yara Stadium with goals from Enoch Morrison and inform Osman Ibrahim.

Bechem United recorded their second win of the season when they beat Elmina Sharks 2-0 at home thanks to Obuoba and Twene.

Karela United won their first game of the season when they beat Berekum Chelsea at Tarkwa.

Real Tamale United’s David Sandan Abagna, the player leading the top scoring chart after Match Day 3, bagged a brace against WAFA to also secure their first league win after return to top-flight football.

It was an electrifying scene as Bibiani Gold Stars welcomed Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the Dun’s Park. The debutants who have been unbeaten since the 2020/2021 season at home finally got their first defeat as the Porcupine Warriors took all three points courtesy of a trademark goal from wonder boy Isaac Oppong.

The win puts Kumasi Asante Kotoko on top of the league with 9 points followed by King Faisal who also have 9 points and the same goal difference and goals scored.

Great Olympics are third, with defending champions Hearts of Oak sitting 11th with three points while Accra Lions, Elmina Sharks and WAFA occupy the last three spots on the league log, having picked up a point each.
