Ghana ranks 64th, 107th in cost of petrol and diesel globally

In terms of the affordability of petroleum products such as petrol and diesel at the pumps around the world, Ghana has been ranked the 64th and 107th country with the cheapest cost of petrol and diesel respectively.

The country’s ranking with regards to the cost of the two petroleum products is according to Global Petrol Prices.Com.

Global average price of petrol and diesel are $1.44 and $1.38 respectively.

Checks by norvanreports indicate that the average price of petrol and diesel in Ghana cost $1.286 (GHS 10.28) and $1.552  (GHS 12.41 ) respectively.

Globally, Venezuela has the cheapest cost of petrol, with the average cost of petrol being $0.022 (GHS 0.176)  whereas Hong Kong has the highest or most expensive cost of petrol being $2.999 (GHS 23.92).

For diesel, Iran has the cheapest cost of diesel with the average cost of diesel going for $0.011 (GHS 0.088).

Hong Kong, once again has the highest or most expensive cost of diesel being $2.771 (GHS 22.16).

Despite having a relatively cheaper cost of petrol and diesel globally, Ghana’s cost of petrol and diesel is among the highest or most expensive on the African Continent.

For instance, cost of petrol in Libya, Algeria and Angola cost $0.031 (GHS 0.25); $0.313 (GHS 2.50) and $0.368 (GHS 2.94)

For diesel, it costs $0.031 (GHS 0.25); $0.198 (GHS 1.54) and $ 0.311 (GHS 2.48).
