Ghana triumphant over Botswana in bid to host 2026 Athletics Championships
Ghana has been awarded the rights to host the 2026 Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Seniors Championships, triumphing over Botswana in a competitive bid.
This exciting news was announced by Ghana Athletics on Saturday through their social media platforms.
In the voting process, Ghana secured 12 out of the 15 votes from the participating countries, with Botswana receiving the remaining three votes.
The successful bid was spearheaded by a dedicated delegation from Ghana, including Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Bawa Majeed, President of Ghana Athletics Bawah Fuseini, and Vice President in charge of administration Charles Osei Assibey.
The decision was made during the CAA General Assembly held in Douala. Ghana was encouraged to bid for the event, highlighting its recent success in hosting the African Games 2023 and the CAA Region II Seniors Championships, which showcased its world-class facilities and organizational capabilities.
As Ghana gears up to host the 2026 CAA Seniors Championships, the nation is expected to deliver a remarkable event, continuing its tradition of excellence in sports event management.
