Ghana, Turkey Renew Commitment to Achieve $1bn Trade Target Before 2027
Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral trade relations with Turkey, with a renewed focus on achieving the USD 1 billion trade target ahead of the 2027 deadline.
Speaking at the Turkey–Africa Business and Economic Forum held from October 16 to 17, 2025, in Istanbul, Mr. Ahi emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation between the two nations to scale up trade volumes and deepen economic partnerships.
The forum, which brought together senior government officials, business executives, and investors from across Africa and Turkey, served as a platform to explore new avenues for trade, industrial development, and sustainable investment.
On the sidelines of the event, Mr. Ahi held bilateral discussions with Turkey’s Deputy Minister for Trade, Hon. Mustafa Tuzcu, focusing on strategies to expand trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The discussions, he noted, centered on developing mutually beneficial frameworks to promote industrial collaboration, private sector growth, and sustainable economic transformation.
“The engagement reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to advancing a forward-looking trade partnership that supports industrialisation and sustainable development,” Mr. Ahi stated.
Ghana and Turkey have in recent years sought to strengthen economic ties through increased trade missions, business forums, and investment partnerships aimed at boosting trade volumes and fostering industrial cooperation.
