Ghanaian travelers to Kenya exempted from eTA fees under Visa-free agreement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that Ghanaian travelers to Kenya will no longer be required to pay Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) fees, due to the existing visa-free regime agreement between the two countries.
According to the Ministry’s statement issued on June 19, 2024, Ghanaian travelers will now be granted an eTA free of charge upon application for travel to Kenya.
Ghanaians intending to travel to Kenya are therefore advised to submit their eTA application through the official website [www.etakenya.go.ke](http://www.etakenya.go.ke) for approval before departure.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform the public that the Republic of Kenya in recognition of the existing visa-free regime agreement between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Ghana has informed that Ghanaian travellers will now be issued an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) on gratis upon application for travel to Kenya,” the Ministry stated.
“The travelling public is hereby advised to take note of this new development accordingly,” it added.
The eTA is an essential travel authorization required for tourists visiting Kenya. Visa-exempt visitors, like Ghanaians, must obtain an eTA online.
Once approved, the eTA confirmation is sent electronically, which is necessary to board the flight.
Travelers should ensure that the eTA is valid and matches their passport information, as discrepancies can prevent boarding.
Most eTA applications are processed within 10 business days, although this is not guaranteed, so travelers are encouraged to apply as early as possible to avoid any delays.
