GHS 5.5bn Bond Programme: Daakye Trust Plc announces buyback of outstanding bonds

Daakye Trust Plc has announced the buyback of outstanding bonds of Tranche D2 issued under its GHS 5.5bn Bond programme.

Tranche D2 of the GHS 5.5bn bond programme with a coupon rate of 20.5%, was issued on April 28, 2021, and is expected to mature on April 16, 2031.

The opening date and time for the offer for the bond buyback by Daakye Plc are Friday, April 19, 2024, and 9am respectively.

The closing date for the bond buyback offer is Friday, April 26, 2024, and the closing time is 2pm with settlement for the bond buyback made on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

In line with Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Daakye bond programme securitizes an education-dedicated value-added tax levy to raise funding to both refinance previous debt obligations and accelerate the build-out of classrooms to meet national education policy priorities.

Through June 2021, with both 7-year and 10-year bond issuances, the Daakye bond programme has raised almost GHS 2 billion out of a GHS 5.5 billion program.
