GLD Posts First Price Gain in September as Market Indices Remain Unchanged

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) began the week on a quiet note, with both the benchmark indices closing Monday’s session unchanged, while GLD recorded its first price gain for September.

The GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) closed flat at 7,330.37 points, keeping its year-to-date (YTD) return at 49.95%. Similarly, the GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) held steady at 3,411.96 points with a YTD return of 43.31%.

Total market capitalization stood at GH¢1.49 billion at the close of trading. Market activity was slightly firmer compared to the previous session, with 547,175 shares changing hands—a 4.02% day-on-day increase—valued at GH¢8,967,696.66.

GLD emerged as the sole gainer of the day, rising GH¢5.45 to close at GH¢402.15. MTN Ghana (MTNGH) led trading activity with 306,549 shares valued at GH¢1,185,521.23. Other actively traded counters included SIC, CAL, ETI, and TOTAL.
