The leading oil marketing company in Ghana, GOIL, says it remains committed to its strategic objective of becoming the major supplier of bitumen, and producer of the best quality Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) for the country.

Speaking in an interview in Accra, the Group CEO and Managing Director of the company, Kwame Osei -Prempeh stated that GOIL is positioning itself as the leader in bitumen supply in the country.

The Plant, which started two years ago, has three facilities- a three in one project stocking raw bitumen, production of Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) and Emulsions.

He noted that the construction of Bitumen Plant in Tema which is in collaboration with SMB of La Cote D’ Ivoire will be completed by the end of September 2021 and is expected to provide jobs and technology transfer to Ghanaians.

When completed, he said the Plant will produce the required volumes and other bituminous products sufficient to the needs of Ghana’s road construction sector while reducing drastically, the importation of bituminous products into the country.

The GOIL MD said, “instead of Government spending so much money building quality roads, we will get what is required here at a lesser cost.”

Kwame Osei Prempeh was confident that GOIL will be able to meet the demand of bitumen in the country and export to some countries in the West African Sub- region to earn foreign exchange for the country.
