GoldBod Begins Enforcement of Mandatory Receipt Issuance in Gold Trade
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has commenced nationwide enforcement of the mandatory use of GoldBod receipts by all licensed gold buyers, after a series of postponements and grace periods granted to traders to regularise their operations.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, the regulator said the issuance of receipts is now compulsory for all transactions involving licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers. The measure is aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening regulation in Ghana’s gold trade.
To ensure compliance, GoldBod has deployed a task force and field inspectors nationwide. Licensed buyers are required to present their receipt booklets for inspection and cooperate fully with enforcement teams.
The Board further urged small-scale miners and traders to insist on official receipts for every purchase transaction, stressing that failure by licensed buyers to issue receipts constitutes a serious offence. Sanctions may include suspension or outright revocation of licences.
GoldBod also encouraged buyers who need assistance in obtaining receipt booklets to contact its Licensing and Regulatory Unit through dedicated hotlines.
