GoldBod Refutes Report of GHS 3bn Loss, Cites Strong Financial Performance
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has firmly rejected media reports alleging that it posted losses of more than GH¢3 billion in its first year of operations, describing the claims as “entirely false” and “deliberately contrived.”
The rebuttal follows a publication by Accra-based Asaase Radio suggesting that the state-backed gold aggregator was operating at a substantial loss.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, GoldBod said the report lacks any factual basis and misrepresents its financial position, stressing that such claims only serve to undermine the institution’s role in supporting Ghana’s economic recovery efforts.
“The publication under reference is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contributions of the GoldBod,” the board stated.

GoldBod maintained that, contrary to the media report, it has recorded “significant surpluses and profits” since its inception. It added that its upcoming quarterly financial statements – expected to be published soon on its official website – will provide clear evidence of its strong fiscal performance.
The board urged the public to disregard the report and called on Asaase Radio to retract the publication and issue an unqualified apology, describing the story as misleading and unethical.
GoldBod reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that it will continue to support the government’s efforts to strengthen the mining sector and enhance revenue mobilisation.
