Government to Spend $1.4 Billion on Eurobond Debt Servicing in 2026
The Government of Ghana has announced that it will spend approximately $1.4 billion next year to service its Eurobond debt, as part of ongoing efforts to meet obligations under the country’s external debt restructuring programme.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, following the successful completion of the third tranche payment of $349 million to Eurobond holders on July 3, 2025.
The payment forms part of Ghana’s post-restructuring debt service obligations agreed upon following the conclusion of the country’s Eurobond restructuring in October 2024.
Cumulatively, Ghana has serviced $1.17 billion in Eurobond debt since the restructuring agreement was finalised.
The government made an initial payment of $475.60 million in October 2024, followed by a second payment of $349.52 million in January 2025. The third payment of $349.52 million was disbursed earlier this month.
The Ministry stressed that with the completion of the July payment, Ghana remains up to date on all scheduled Eurobond debt service obligations for 2025.
