Air Senegal sets new date for resumption of Dakar-Accra operations
Dakar-based Air Senegal has set a new date in September for the resumption of its Dakar-Accra operations.
Air Senegal started four times weekly flights between Dakar and Accra in December 2019 but suspended operations in 2020 due to what it termed ‘operations reasons’. It eventually announced that it anticipates to resume its Dakar-Accra-Dakar service in June 2022 but that fell through.
Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ing, Charles Kraikue, has confirmed to AviationGhana that the airline now plans to restart its operations in Ghana in September 2022.
“Air Senegal has indicated their intention to resume commercial flight operation in September 2022,” Mr. Kraikue told AviationGhana in Accra.
Senegal’s new national airline, is at the heart of the Emerging Senegal Plan with the ambition of creating a real regional hub around Blaise Diagne International Airport.
The new national airline, Air Senegal, aims to be the leader in West African air transport by relying on the regional HUB AIBD (Blaise Diagne International Airport). Its mission is to serve both domestic and international destinations.
The airline says it “wants to be a citizen company, with international standards, with a business model based on customer satisfaction and operational excellence, while respecting the safety and security standards of the aeronautical industry.”
The airline has a fleet of 9 aircraft made of Airbus A319s, A330-900 Neo, and ATRs. This equipment was bought by the Senegalese state to revive its defunct national airline.
