GPL: Aduana FC go top as Medeama Chase, Kotoko Stay Unbeaten and Hearts Reignite Title Charge After Matchday 8

Aduana FC sit proudly atop the Premier League table, Medeama trail closely, Kotoko remain unbeaten and Hearts of Oak have reignited their campaign after matchday 8 of the Ghanaian top-flight concluded on Sunday November 2, 2025.

Aduana FC 1-0 Eleven Wonders

Aduana FC climbed to the summit of the Premier League table after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.

Charles Gyamfi Kamara struck the decisive goal in the 83rd minute, sealing all three points for the Fire Club, who now lead the standings with 18 points, one ahead of Medeama.

Aduana’s unbeaten start to the season continues impressively — six wins and two draws in eight games — as they strengthen their title credentials.

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a 2-1 triumph over Basake Holy Stars at the AAK Sports Arena in Ampain, recording their first victory in four matches.

After a tense opening period, the Phobians took control, earning a penalty in the 43rd minute which Frank Abora Duku coolly converted. Hamza Issah doubled the lead in the 59th minute with a well-taken strike, continuing his fine goal-scoring form.

Holy Stars pulled one back through a 68th-minute penalty from captain Issah Yakubu, but despite late pressure, Hearts held on for a morale-boosting win.

The result lifts the Accra giants into the top half of the table, while Holy Stars remain bottom, winless after eight games.

Dreams FC 2-0 FC Samartex 1996

Dreams FC produced one of their best performances of the season, earning a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten FC Samartex 1996 at the Tuba Astro Turf.

Suraj Seidu opened the scoring in the 30th minute, before substitute Jonathan Nemorden sealed victory with an 85th-minute strike.

The win lifts Winfred Dormon’s men out of the relegation zone and ends Samartex’s unbeaten run. Dreams will travel to face Karela United next, while Samartex look to bounce back against Swedru All Blacks at home.

Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Vision FC

Berekum Chelsea snapped a three-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Vision FC at the Golden City Park.

Seidu Abubakar’s goal proved decisive, making him Chelsea’s fifth different scorer this season.

The result relieves some pressure on coach Samuel Boadu, whose side now sit on eight points. Chelsea will next visit Heart of Lions, while

Vision FC, who have now suffered back-to-back losses, will host Eleven Wonders in their next outing.

Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 Young Apostles

Reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Young Apostles at Dun’s Park.

Prolific striker Samuel Atta Kumi netted the winner in the first half — his 7th goal of the campaign — to move the Miners up to 4th place on 16 points.

Young Apostles, meanwhile, slipped to their second defeat of the season and occupy 9th position with 11 points.

Gold Stars will remain in Bibiani to face Karela United, while Young Apostles host Bechem United in their next fixture.

Swedru All Blacks 1-1 Heart of Lions

Swedru All Blacks produced a spirited late comeback to secure a 1-1 draw against Heart of Lions in their Premier League at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday

The visitors took the lead on the stroke of halftime through Chauncy Freeman, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to give Heart of Lions a slender advantage heading into the break.

However, the home team refused to give up and mounted sustained pressure in the closing stages. Their persistence finally paid off in the 88th minute, when All Blacks found the equalizer to the delight of the home crowd, salvaging a crucial point.

The result leaves Heart of Lions in fifth place on the league table, while Swedru All Blacks remain in search of their first win of the campaign. Lions will aim to bounce back when they host Berekum Chelsea next weekend, while All Blacks will travel to Bibiani to face FC Samartex 1996 in their next fixture.

Asante Kotoko 4-2 Karela United

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, overpowering Karela United 4–2 in a thrilling Premier League match at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors, determined to bounce back after their CAF Confederation Cup exit, put on a dominant attacking display despite the absence of key forward Albert Amoah, who recently completed a move to Al Ahli Benghazi in Libya.

Kotoko wasted no time asserting their intent as midfielder Hubert Gyau opened the scoring with a fierce strike in the 6th minute. Karela responded quickly through Bless Ege, but Gyau restored Kotoko’s lead with another thunderous effort from distance before Seth Kwadwo powered home a header just before halftime to give the hosts a commanding 3–1 advantage.

After the break, Kotoko continued to dominate possession and territory. Peter Amidu Acquah extended the lead with a close-range finish, effectively putting the game beyond Karela’s reach. The visitors pulled one back in the 72nd minute, but it proved to be only a consolation as Kotoko controlled proceedings until the final whistle.

The victory preserves Kotoko’s unbeaten start to the 2025/26 season. The Porcupine Warriors now have 11 points from five matches and three games in hand, positioning themselves firmly in the title race. They next face a high-stakes showdown with rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday November 9.
