GPL: Asante Kotoko Sets Sights on Ghana Premier League Glory
Asante Kotoko’s ambitions are soaring high as the club’s Sporting Affairs Manager, Kwasi Appiah, publicly declared their pursuit of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League title.
Currently sitting in third place with 28 points from 16 matches, the Porcupine Warriors are just two points behind league leaders Hearts of Lions, setting the stage for a thrilling race as the season progresses.
Despite facing a mixed bag of results this season, Appiah’s unwavering belief in the team’s potential shines through. He emphasized the club’s primary focus: bringing home the coveted league trophy and earning a spot in next year’s continental competitions. This goal is not just about the glory of winning; it’s also a way to honor the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose steadfast support continues to motivate the players.
In a heartfelt interview with Akoma FM, Appiah expressed his confidence in the coaching staff and their ability to harness the squad’s talent. “I firmly believe our coach understands the weight of the responsibility he carries. We must do whatever it takes to secure our place in African competitions next season. With the talent we have and the commitment from the King, winning the league and competing on the continental stage would be a significant honor, bringing joy to Otumfuo,” he stated.
Asante Kotoko last lifted the Ghana Premier League trophy in 2022 under the stewardship of Prosper Ogum, marking an impressive 25 league titles in the club’s storied history. With their eyes firmly set on reclaiming the championship, the Porcupine Warriors are prepared to fight tooth and nail in the coming matches.
