GPL: Hearts of Oak Triumph, Medeama Suffers First Defeat in Matchday Day Six Showdown

In a dramatic Match Day 6 of the Ghanaian Premier League, Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a thrilling away victory against Young Apostles FC, while Medeama SC faced their first loss of the season. Gold Stars FC continued their unbeaten streak, showcasing the intensity and competitiveness of the league.

At the Wenchi Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak clinched a 2-1 victory, marking their first away win of the campaign. Emmanuel Amankwah opened the scoring in the 48th minute, giving the Phobians an early second-half lead. However, Young Apostles equalized just six minutes before the final whistle through Samuel Prempeh. The joy was short-lived, as Hamza Issah netted a stunning goal in the 86th minute, securing the win for Hearts and propelling them into midtable, while Young Apostles slipped into the relegation zone.

In another encounter, Medeama SC suffered a setback against Bechem United, losing 2-0. The Mauve and Yellow team fell behind early when Dalvin Yeboah scored just five minutes into the match. Emmanuel Abban doubled the lead just before halftime, leaving Medeama without a win in their last three matches. Bechem United’s solid performance lifted them to 9th place in the standings.

Gold Stars FC continued their impressive form with a resilient 1-1 draw against Nations FC. Faisal Chawetey put Nations ahead in the 34th minute, but Kelvin Oppong equalized for Gold Stars with just nine minutes remaining. This draw keeps Gold Stars at the top of the table with 12 points, while Nations FC holds a respectable 5th place.

Aduana FC celebrated their first victory of the season with a convincing 2-0 win over Dreams FC. Two second-half goals from Emmanuel Marfo and Abubakar Adams sealed the deal for Aduana, lifting them to 13th place as Dreams FC remained winless and found themselves at a precarious 17th position.

In a tightly contested match, Basake Holy Stars edged Karela United 1-0, thanks to a late strike from Prince Opoku in the 77th minute. This victory moved Holy Stars two points clear of Karela in the standings, solidifying their position in midtable.
