GPL: Hearts of Oak v Nations FC Relocated to Tuba Astro Turf Due to Unavailability of Accra Sports Stadium
The National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed that Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. will not host their upcoming Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium, originally set for Thursday, April 3, 2025. This decision has led to the rescheduling of the Matchweek 21 fixture to Tuba Astro Turf on the same date.
In a press release issued on April 2, 2025, the NSA explained that scheduling conflicts with other events at the stadium made it “practically impossible” to accommodate the game. Despite negotiations with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the NSA cited prior commitments as the primary reason for denying Hearts access to their home ground.
The decision comes amid ongoing concerns about the stadium’s condition, as a structural audit is nearing completion. The NSA has assured fans that the venue will be available for weekend fixtures, including an upcoming match between Hearts of Oak and Karela FC.
For Hearts of Oak, currently sitting in 4th place with 37 points, the relocation to Tuba Astro Turf presents a critical moment in their season. The Phobians are eager to end a three-game winless streak and will hope that the change of venue does not disrupt their preparations against a competitive Nations FC side.
