GPL: Karim Zito Targets MTN FA Cup Glory After Kotoko’s Victory Over Medeama
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has set his sights on securing the 2025 MTN FA Cup title following his team’s hard-fought 3-2 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday, June 1. The match, held at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, marked another impressive step in Kotoko’s unbeaten run under Zito’s leadership.
With just one match remaining in the Ghana Premier League season, Kotoko currently sits third on the table with 58 points, trailing Bibiani Gold Stars and Nations FC, both at 60 points. The title race remains wide open heading into the final round, adding to the excitement of the upcoming cup competition.
Since taking over as interim coach, Zito has led Kotoko through a remarkable unbeaten streak, achieving three wins and two draws in five matches. Reflecting on his tenure after the match, Zito expressed his ambition to bring home the FA Cup.
“I have done my part,” he stated. “I have played at least five matches, and I have been able to guide the team through this point. It is my prayer to win the FA Cup, then I will be satisfied at the end and let the technical director know I have done my best since taking over.”
Kotoko’s focus will now shift to their final league fixture against Vision FC, after which they will prepare for the highly anticipated MTN FA Cup final against Golden Kicks, scheduled for June 15, 2025.
