GPL Matchweek 32 Wrap: Asante Kotoko beat Olympics; Karela thrash RTU 

Asante Kotoko defeated Great Olympics 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium thanks to Franck Mbella Etouga’s 21st goal of the season.

The Porcupine Warriors went into the game as league champions after drawing 1-1 with AshantiGold to take a commanding 9 point lead at the top of the table with three games to spare. 

The win takess Asante Kotoko to 63 points, 10 points off second placed Medeama SC and await their of glory against Elmina Sharks when they are finally crowned champions. 

The goal puts the Cameroonian one goal ahead of close rival Yaw Annor in the race for the golden boot.

Yaw Annor’s goal tally remained at 20 after failing to score for AshantiGold at the Theatre of Dreams against Dreams FC. Ibrahim Abdallah’s 11 minute strike ensured Ignatius Osei-Fosu got his first win as head coach of the Dawu based club. 

Second placed Bechem United rallied to a 1-0 win against Aduana Stars at the Fosu Gyeabour Park. Dropped from the Black Stars squad, Augustine Okrah scored the only goal of the game to engineer a win over their regional rivals.

Real Tamale United are in danger of suffering relegation after a 5-1 thrashing at Karela United. The Tarkwa based club was simply unstoppable as they run riot thanks to braces from captain Umar Bashiru, Samuel Atta Kumi and Matthew Kelvin Andoh. 

At Elmina, a brace from Patrick Kofi Ansu and Kwesi Donsu propelled Medeama SC to a 3-1 win over relegated side Elmina Sharks. 

Accra Lions secured their place in the league next season after picking up an emphatic 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
