GPL Matchweek 9 Wrap: Kotoko and Hearts record wins

Matchweek 9 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League saw Aduana FC extend their lead at the summit of the league with their fifth win in a row as Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko also secured all three points in their respective matches. 

Asante Kotoko won 2-1 against Legon Cities with Cameroonian striker Frank Thierry Mbella scoring a brace to help Kotoko return to winning ways after two draws in a row. 

At the Len Clay Stadium, both sides failed to find the back of the net as AshantiGold and Great Olympics played out a 0-0 draw. 

Aduana FC extended their lead at the top of the Premier League in a five goal thriller against Berekum Chelsea in Dormaa with the home side securing all three points after a hard fought 3-2 win with former Kotoko captain Emmanuel Gyamfi scoring a brace. 

David Sandan Abagna’s was on the scoresheet once again for Real Tamale United as the northerners saw off Elmina Sharks by 2-0.

WAFA finally got a win after going on a three game losing streak as Emmanuel Agyemang scored late in the game to give WAFA a needed 1-0 win against Medeama SC. 

Having taken a first half lead through Richard Amoah, Bibiani Gold Stars succumbed to a 2-1 defeat as Abass Ganiu and George Osei Amponsah scored in the second period of the game for Eleven Wonders. 

Karela United held Bechem United to a 1-1 draw at the Cosby Awuah Memorial Park after Augustine Okrah’s 50th minute goal was cancelled out late in the game by Darlington Gyan Fosu’s 86th minute strike. 

With one game still to go, matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League saw a total of 18 goals scored. 

Hearts of Oak now move out of the relegation zone after two wins in a row while Aduana extend their lead at the top of the table.
