GPL: Mubarak Wakaso Close to Joining Hearts of Oak to Revive Career
Mubarak Wakaso is nearing a move to Hearts of Oak as the January transfer window opens, aiming to rejuvenate his career after a year of injuries.
The experienced midfielder has been without a club since leaving Chinese side Shenzhen FC in January 2024 and last played competitively on August 23, 2023.
Despite ongoing knee issues, Wakaso has resumed training in Ghana, prompting Hearts of Oak to consider signing him.
The club plans to manage his playing time carefully, similar to their approach with Sulley Muntari in the 2022/23 season, allowing him to participate in key matches while avoiding long trips.
Wakaso boasts an impressive career with European clubs like Villarreal and Panathinaikos, along with 70 caps and 13 goals for the Ghana national team.
His experience could be invaluable as Hearts, currently sixth in the Ghana Premier League, look to strengthen their squad under coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
