GRA to make tax filing process simple with new mobile App

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has disclosed that the Ghana Revenue Authority has come up with a Mobile App that will make tax filing process simple for Ghanaians.

He noted that the tax filing Mobile App has been designed specifically to make the filing of taxes very simple for both the highly educated and the ordinary Ghanaian on their mobile phones.

He added that GRA will roll out this new tax filing Mobile App in the coming months.

He disclosed this while delivering a speech on the state of the economy at an event organised by the Danquah Institute and the National Youth Wing of the NPP on Thursday.

‘’Many people, including highly educated people, find the process of filing taxes complex. To make it easier and less cumbersome to file taxes, I challenged the GRA to come up with a simple to use mobile App to enable ordinary people file and pay taxes using their mobile phones.

“I am happy to announce that the GRA will roll this new Mobile App out in the next couple of month. The tax filing Mobile App has been designed specifically to make the filing of taxes very simple,’’ he noted.

He believes the new move will help eradicate the era of fake tax clearance since the mobile app gives the opportunity for an automatic tax clearance certificate once an individua pays his or her tax.

‘’You will receive an electronic receipt of your tax payment. You will also automatically receive an electronic tax clearance certificate. So you no longer need to apply separately for a tax clearance certificate. You will get one automatically once you have successfully filed your taxes. The era of fake tax clearance certificates would soon be over,’’ he said.

Again the mobile app gives the tax payer the opportunity to use the various means of payment systems in paying their tax.

‘’Once you sign on, you will be asked to answer a number of simple questions. Once completed, you can hit the send button and your tax liability or refund will be calculated. You can then proceed to pay using mobile money, or any other channel,’’ he added.
