Group-by-Group Summary of AFCON 2025 Qualifiers After Matchday 3

Title holders Cote d’Ivoire are one of six nations maintaining a perfect record at the halfway point of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They are joined by record title holders Egypt, hosts Morocco, and Algeria, all of whom have won all their matches in the campaign so far. DR Congo and Angola also boast maximum points as Matchday Four approaches.

Group A

Tunisia faced a surprising 1-0 defeat at home to Comoros, with Rafiki Said scoring the decisive goal. Despite dominating possession, Tunisia couldn’t convert their chances and now sits at the top of the group with six points. Comoros is just one point behind. Gambia and Madagascar ended in a 1-1 draw, both earning their second points of the campaign.

Group B

Morocco continued their perfect streak, crushing Central African Republic 5-0. With standout performances from Azzedine Ounahi and Abde Ezzalzouli, Morocco leads Group B with 9 points. Gabon, held to a 0-0 draw by Lesotho, sits second with 4 points.

Egypt secured a 2-0 victory over Mauritania, maintaining their flawless record with 9 points and a strong defensive showing. Cape Verde’s loss to Botswana leaves them tied on three points, while Mauritania remains last with just one point.

Group D

Nigeria edged past Libya with a late 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. Nigeria remains unbeaten at the top with 7 points, while Benin climbed to second after defeating Rwanda 3-0. Libya sits at the bottom with only one point.

Group E

Algeria delivered a commanding 5-1 win against Togo, with Said Benrahma scoring twice. They sit comfortably at the top with 9 points. Equatorial Guinea’s 1-0 win over Liberia places them second, while Togo and Liberia struggle with just one and zero points, respectively.

Group F

Angola recorded a crucial 2-0 victory over Niger, keeping them at the top of the group with 9 points. Ghana’s campaign faltered further with a 0-0 draw against Sudan, leaving them third with 2 points. .

Group G

Cote d’Ivoire maintained their impressive form with a 4-1 win over Sierra Leone, led by standout performances from Nicolas Pepe and Franck Kessié. They lead the group with 9 points, while Zambia sits second after a goalless draw with Chad.

Group H

DR Congo preserved their perfect record with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania, remaining at the top with 9 points. Guinea climbed to third with a 4-1 win against Ethiopia, while Tanzania holds second with 4 points.

Group I

Mali secured a close 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, taking the top spot with 7 points. Mozambique’s 1-1 draw with Eswatini allowed them to remain second with 5 points.

Group J

Cameroon showcased their strength with a 4-1 triumph over Kenya. They now lead the group with 7 points, while Zimbabwe moved into second after a 1-0 win against Namibia.

Group K

South Africa delivered an impressive 5-0 victory over Congo, with Teboho Mokoena scoring twice. Both South Africa and Uganda sit at the top with 7 points, but South Africa’s superior goal difference places them second.

Group L

Senegal defeated Malawi 4-0, with goals from Sadio Mane, Pap Gueye, and Boulaye Dia. Senegal remains second in the group with 7 points, trailing leaders Burkina Faso, who triumphed 4-1 against Burundi. Malawi sits at the bottom with a winless start.
