GSE: Absa-sponsored ETF gains GHS 6.70 in share price as GCB emerges sole decliner

New Gold (GLD), the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) backed by Absa Capital rose in share price at the end of trading activities on Monday, August 15, 2022.

The ETF increased by GHS 6.70 in share price to close trading at GHS 152.80 indicating a YTD positive returns of 56.72%.

The ETF emerged the sole gainer on the Accra bourse on Monday.

GCB on the other hand, emerged the sole decliner on the local bourse with a share price decline of GHS 0.49.

GCB ended trading activity at a share price of GHS 4.50 indicating a YTD negative returns of 14.12%.

At the close of trading session on Monday, the benchmark index (GSE-Composite Index) of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) was down by 12.45 points to close trading at 2,548.04 points representing a YTD return of -8.65%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index  (GSE-FSI) also lost 22.53 points to close trading at 2,062.87 points translating into a YTD return of -4.14%. 

Market capitalization for the day settled at GH¢64.67bn.

Meanwhile, a total of 129,836 shares valued at GH¢597,903.63 was traded on  the day. Compared with the previous GSE today’s data shows a 72.08% decline in volume traded and 36.81%  decline in trade turnover.

NewGold (GLD) accounted 65.19% of the total value traded whilst Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the most volumes traded.
