GSE Closes Thursday’s Session Lower as Financial Stocks Weigh on Market Performance
The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) closed Thursday’s trading session in negative territory, as both major indices recorded notable declines.
The benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) dropped by 0.66% to close at 8,227.84 points, while the Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) posted a sharper decline of 1.79%, settling at 4,186.82 points.
Market performance was largely influenced by losses in financial stocks, particularly Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), which shed GH¢0.09 to close at GH¢0.90, dragging the financial index lower.
Conversely, Clydestone Ghana (CLYD) extended its upward trajectory, gaining GH¢0.03 to finish at GH¢0.39, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains.
MTN Ghana (MTNGH) once again dominated market activity, accounting for the bulk of trading with 160,461 shares valued at approximately GH¢649,867.05.
Overall, the market closed bearish, reflecting mixed investor sentiment amid continued price movements in key equities.
