GSE market cap increase by almost Ghs 500 million in a day

Market capitalisation of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) increased in value by Ghs 498 million to end Monday’s trading session with a total market capitalisation value of Ghs 64.63 billion.

The Ghs 64.63 billion market value of the local bourse recorded at the end of Monday’s trading session represents a 18.88 percent increase in market capitalisation for 2021.

The benchmark GSE Composite index (GSE-CI) gained 47.64 points to close trading at 2,899.54, translating into a YTD return of 49.34% whereas the GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) continued to be flat at 2,082.12 also translating into a YTD return of 16.79%.  

Two equities recorded gains with Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) gaining Ghs 0.20 to close trading at Ghs 5.00 followed by Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) which gained four Ghana Pesewas to close trading at GH¢1.24 

A total of 524,673 shares valued at Ghs 666,966.23 were traded, a significant increase compared to a total of 70,436 shares valued at Ghs 107,157.65 which was traded yesterday.

Seven (7) equities traded on the day with Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recording the most trades, accounting for 91.77% of the total value traded and 94.44% of the total volume traded.
