GSE market cap up by Ghs 412 million; reaches Ghs 65.3 billion

Market capitalization of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) at the close of last week increased by GH¢412.54 million to close trading at GH¢65.38 billion representing a  growth of 20.25% this year.

The increment in the exchange’s market value was the result of a 53.02 points rise in the benchmark GSE- Composite Index from 2,917.98 points to close at 2,971.00 points translating into a year-to-date return of 53.02%.

The GSE’s current year-to-date return of 53.02% is slightly higher than the 52.73% year-to-date returns recorded in 2017.

Last week, five (5) equities on the stock market, recorded gains as against two (2) equities that declined in share price.

The five equities that gained were led by Total Energies with Access Bank and Unilever Ghana being the two decliners on the market.

In all, a total of 5.90 million shares valued at GH¢7.08 million were traded marking an increase of 153.88% in volumes traded and a decrease of 0.65% in values traded respectively compared to the previous week.
